Advanced Ads: Gutenberg Ad Block & Geo-Targeting Based On Radius

The developer of Advanced Ads just gave us an overview on the development of the WordPress ad management plugin over the past few months. In version 1.10.10, the already existing Gutenberg ad block will be converted to WordPress 5.0. Stay tuned for an upcoming release close to November 27th.

Apart from that, Thomas has been really busy implementing new features and further improving the plugin.

Edit Button

After installing the latest release of Advanced Ads, you will find an edit button when hovering over the ad in the frontend. This allows you to jump to the ad edit page directly.

Custom Image Ad Size

The width and height settings of image ads now really influence the size of images. This was an expected behaviour, while the original intention of these options was different.

Show Ad Shortcodes In Ad List

You can now enable an extra column in the ad list which displays the corresponding ad shortcodes. Simply enable it in the Screen Options menu at the top right of the ad list screen.

Geo-Targeting Based On Radius

Geo-targeting has been extended to work with a radius around a specific place. This feature allows you to target a region or an area including its surroundings without entering a specific city.

Inject Ads Based On Any Element

You can now inject ads into any element that contains text within your content, not just paragraphs. This option is available for Content placements when Advanced Ads Pro is enabled.

Refreshing Ads No Longer Jump

Loading a new ad within a refreshing ad group sometimes caused the content below it to “jump”. This issue has been fixed and makes a few custom CSS rules obsolete.

Freelance Writers Wanted

Thomas is also looking for freelance writers to extend their tutorial section. You need to be a native English speaker and have examples of How To tutorials online. Interested? Give him a shout!

Advanced Ads Pro can be purchased from as low as โ‚ฌ39 for a Single Site license. However, there is also a free version available which comes with limited features. The All Access Pass and All Access Pass Long Term plans get you access to both existing and future paid add-ons.
