As the name suggests, with the new AffiliateWP Fraud Prevention add-on you can effectively protect your affiliate program – and your profit margins – from affiliate fraud.

After the installation of the Pro add-on you will find a new dedicated anti-fraud tab in the AffiliateWP settings. There you can manage the following security aspects:

Self-Referrals

Self-referrals are probably the biggest problem. These are users disguised as affiliates who pretend to promote your products. However, they only want to get a discount in the form of commissions for their own purchases. You can now approve, flag, or block these self-referrals.

Referring Sites

When affiliates sign up for your affiliate program, you can ask them to list the websites they want to use to promote your products.

Here you can specify whether they allow, flag or reject referrals that originate from websites other than those your affiliate specified when signing up. There will then also be a flag on the referrals page next to the referral ID, which will give you a good overview.

Suspicious Conversion Rates

Finally, you can now also flag referrals and visits from affiliates with suspicious conversion rates, e.g. in the high double digits. You can set a conversion rate range with custom minimum and maximum conversion rates. If an affiliate exceeds these values, both their visits and referrals are flagged.

Extremely low conversion rates can be an indicator of spam traffic, while very high conversion rates can be due to fraudulent tactics.
