Cosmos Introduces Room Types

Following the release of personal and focus rooms, the Cosmos Video team has just introduced room types. Cosmos is your team’s virtual office, and it now works more like a real office, with each room in your space able to behave differently.

New: Room Types

The experience in each room adapts based on what happens there, so your desk feels different from your meeting room, which in turn feels different from the focus rooms. Think of it as if you were moving into a new office: you would decide where different teams sit, where meetings happen and where people focus or socialize.

Here’s an overview of each room type:

  • Personal Rooms:
This is your desk. Your team members will know exactly where to find you, so there’ll be no more searching around. You can return to your desk with one click after any call, and you control who’s in your room.
  • Meeting Rooms:
This is where structured calls happen. Breakout rooms, recordings and embedded apps are all in one place, so there’s no need to send links and wait for replies.
  • Focus Rooms:
Library-style co-working. Set a task and duration to show others that you are working intensely. This is ideal for people who find it easier to focus when others are around, but without the noise.
  • Game Rooms:
Team bonding without the forced fun! Twelve multiplayer games, ranging from tic-tac-toe to puzzles, start automatically when people arrive.
  • Spatial Areas:
Use them to define team zones, networking areas, or open spaces. Thanks to proximity audio, conversations happen naturally as people move between groups.

Once you have assigned room types, Cosmos takes care of the rest. The correct experience will load automatically when anyone enters.
