Descript Launches New Layout Packs, Automatic Smart Transitions & AI Video Maker

Andrew from Descript has just published the February release roundup for the audio and video editing tool, which includes new layout packs, automatic smart transitions and an AI video maker.

Let’s find out what’s new in Descript:

• New Scenes & Layout Flow:
  The Layout Library has received a major update, with a new popout layout picker, a new scene toolbar and more. Professionally designed layouts for intros, multicams, chapter cards and lower thirds have also been added. With the new scene flow, your videos will look great out of the box.
• Smart Transitions:
  To top off the elegance that layouts add to your video, Descript has also introduced a new type of scene-to-scene transition called a Smart Transition. They detect all layers in two adjacent scenes and add polished interstitial animations, zooms, pans and fades to effortlessly maintain visual interest in your video.
• New AI Video Maker:
  Descript has teamed up with ChatGPT to create a new AI video maker that uses AI to write you a full script. It then creates a video, complete with graphics and AI speech, and sets it up for you to edit in Descript. Just type in your subject and the Video Maker will guide you through the process step by step, or you can enter a pre-written script to build on. It’ll ask you questions about the details you want to include, let you choose a visual style, and then generate a project with the final result.

Finally, Descript can now translate your captions and dub your audio into Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Korean – bringing the total number of translation languages to 28.
