Descript Introduces New Control Room & Brand Studio

Descript has just published its July roundup of new features for the audio and video editing tool. These include a new control room, brand studio and mobile uploads.

New Features

Let’s take a look at what’s new in Descript:

• Brand Studio – A Central Hub for On-Brand Video:
  Available with Business and Enterprise plans, Brand Studio is a central hub where you can store custom layout packs, fonts, colours, and more. You can then share these resources with your team, granting them the appropriate permissions. No more panicking over which font to use! DMs — just consistent, on-brand content that grows with your team and lets you focus on creating content that truly represents your brand. Paid users also get access to the layout remixing tool in the editor, which allows you to customize the gallery layout packs with different colours and fonts.
• Control Room – Professional Production in Rooms:
  The Control Room feature transforms Descript Rooms into professional recording studios and is also exclusively available to Business and Enterprise customers. This powerful backstage environment enables producers and others to work invisibly — they are not seen, heard or recorded unless they choose to be. They can pop in to speak to everyone or individuals without appearing in the final recording. The Editor Comments feature enables hosts and producers to leave timestamped notes for their editors while recording. This is an effective way to manage production quality for the benefit of all.
• Mobile Uploads – Now in Beta:
  You can now record a video on your phone and upload it directly to a Descript project. The new upload option will be visible when you open a blank project and in the project panel. Selecting ‘Upload from mobile’ will generate a QR code that you can scan to start adding files to your project.

In other news, you will now find a selection of native-sounding AI speakers with authentic accents and natural intonation in the Descript stock speaker menu. These can be used to create high-quality voiceovers in non-English languages, eliminating the need for translation. They are available in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Hindi, Turkish, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Swedish.
