Pier #67 – PMPro LTD, Automattic ⚔️ WP Engine, ClickWhale, Tutor LMS & Solid Mail

Welcome to the 67th issue of The Pier. Limited to the first 1,000, students can now get a free website on WordPress.com for one year, including a free custom domain name, premium themes, 13GB of storage, an SSL certificate and an ad-free experience.

Automattic ⚔️ WP Engine

At WordCamp US in Portland, Automattic CEO and WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg launched an attack on WP Engine, calling it a “cancer to WordPress”. Well, we didn’t have to wait too long for a response from WP Engine. Automattic’s response to WP Engine’s cease and desist letter was also swift. After WP Engine removed the news feed from the WordPress admin dashboard. WordPress.org has now banned WP Engine and Flywheel from using any of its resources, including the plugin repository. Pressable is now offering WP Engine customers the option of buying out their contract and crediting their account. To be continued. 🍿
