Shopify Pay: A Fast, Secure & Simplified Checkout Process

The Shopify team has just introduced Shopify Pay, a new secure and fast checkout process for their SaaS ecommerce platform.

A simple and intuitive checkout is essential when it comes to boosting conversion rates, increasing user experience (UX) and decreasing abandoned cart rates.

Shopify Pay

Long forms where customers have to enter payment and shipping details can really be a thing of the past. Instead only a 6-digit verification code sent to a customer phone is required. Thus checking out from any Shopify-powered store is now a matter of seconds.

Shopify Pay is currently available to merchants in Australia, US, Canada, Ireland, and UK who are using Shopify Payments. At no additional cost! More countries will be added soon.

How does it work?

After entering both their shipping and payment details for the first time, customers can then choose to have their information saved with Shopify Pay. For their next order(s) they only have to enter their email address along with the SMS verification code. As shipping and payment information will automagically be pre-filled, customers can instantly complete their order with just a single click of a button.

Please note that customer details are encrypted and safely stored on Shopifyโ€™s secure PCI compliant servers.

Side Note: Slate

For developers, Shopify just introduced Slate. It’s a theme scaffold and command line tool for developing, testing and deploying themes.
