The new Different Domains per Language add-on allows you to use a different domain for each language on your multilingual WordPress site, improving local SEO and branding.

Rather than using URL paths such as ‘domain.com/de/’ and ‘domain.com/fr/’, you can now use ‘domain.de’ and ‘domain.fr’. Alternatively, you can use subdomains for each language.

Benefits

Why use a different domain for each language?

  • Stronger Country-Level SEO Signals:
Using country-specific domains (such as .de or .fr) sends a stronger signal to search engines. This can improve your visibility in local search results, helping you to compete more effectively in country-specific markets.
  • Maximum Local Trust:
Users instinctively trust local domains more. In markets such as Germany, France and Italy, having a .de, .fr or .it domain can significantly increase perceived legitimacy, which translates directly into higher conversions.
  • Clear Market Positioning:
Having separate domains allows you to position each market independently, with localized messaging, pricing and campaigns. Furthermore, each domain can establish its own authority, enabling you to expand into different markets at different speeds.

The new add-on comes with built-in single sign-on (SSO). Once someone has logged in to one language domain, they are automatically logged in to all the others.

The Different Domains per Language add-on is now available with TranslatePress Business and Developer plans.
