WP Engine Acquires StudioPress

Yesterday, WP Engine announced the acquisition of StudioPress which are the developers of the popular Genesis theme framework. This is already the second acquisition of a theme developing company by a web hosting provider this year. Back in March, Liquid Web has acquired iThemes.

WP Engine, the worldโ€™s leading WordPress digital experience platform (DXP), will invest in the development of the open source Genesis Framework and plans to integrate the framework into their platform.

The acquisition is not only including Genesis, but also a collection of 60+ professionally designed, SEO-optimized, mobile-responsive StudioPress themes as well as the StudioPress Sites hosting business. Speaking of, both StudioPress Sites and Synthesis managed WordPress hosting will no longer be made available for new customers effective 27th June.
