New Features

Let’s take a look at what’s new in Descript:

  • New Timeline:
The new timeline is now available to all users. The scene rail has been replaced with a visual timeline made up of scene-separated thumbnails. There is also a storyboard view that shows all your scenes at a glance. The slashes used to mark scenes in the script have been replaced with thumbnails, which make navigation much easier.
  • New Teleprompter:
Descript has added a teleprompter feature to both the editor and the screen recorder. Simply paste in your script or import one directly from your project. The teleprompter starts automatically when you hit record. It comes with custom scroll speeds, focus mode to highlight the current line, light and dark modes, and more.
  • Video Regenerate (beta):
You can now use the ‘Regenerate’ feature on sections of video. It generates a video with lip movements that match your regenerated audio. Although it currently only works with single-speaker videos, it’s an excellent way to correct mispronunciations, verbal errors and other mistakes.
  • Underlord (free while in beta):
They have extended the free use of the new Underlord, which was recently turned into an AI co-editor, until the end of July. Therefore, any AI actions that you instruct it to perform will not count against your monthly limits.

In other news, Descript has introduced Quick Design, a new AI tool that will automatically add scenes, layouts and B-roll to your video. Green screen and blurring of the speaker’s background are now processed instantly.
