Descript Brings Image to Avatar, AI Video Generation & Templates

Descript has just published its August roundup of new features for the audio and video editing tool. These include a new Image to Avatar feature, video generation and video templates.

New Features

Descript released the following new features in August 2025:

• AI Video Generation:
  Descript now lets you use AI to generate custom videos. Simply tell Underlord what you want and you can choose from over 20 styles curated by their design team, or have them create a new style based on your content. This is great for B-roll, social shorts and more. It also integrates seamlessly with Descript’s editing tools. Paid users get three minutes of generated video per month.
• Video Templates:
  What if Underlord could create your entire video in one go? Templates are ready-made workflows comprising step-by-step prompts created by Descript. Simply select the type of video you want to create — such as presentations, social media clips or explainers — and Underlord will start working. It will ask you questions along the way to make sure you get exactly what you’re looking for.
• Image to Avatar:
  You can now transform images into AI avatars. Simply refine an image using text prompts and watch your customized avatar deliver your script with lifelike movements. You can create a consistent brand spokesperson or simply produce lots of videos without appearing on camera. Use text prompts to adjust the background, clothing and style continuously before and after generation.

In other news, Descript now enables you to select multiple objects simultaneously by either shift-clicking or dragging a selection area. You can then move, resize or align multiple elements simultaneously, as well as making bulk property changes across your selection.
