DigitalOcean: Pooling Transfer Limits From Multiple Droplets

Back in January, DigitalOcean have introduced new Droplet pricing plans. Now, the cloud computing platform has announced an upcoming update to their bandwidth billing policy.

New Bandwith Policy

To help their customers understand their bandwidth usage and lower their costs, DigitalOcean introduced daily usage tracking in the billing page. In addition, they have revised their bandwidth billing policy. They are about to increase allowances for accounts with multiple Droplets by pooling transfer limits. Also, they will lower the overage price to $0.01/GB.

Please note that there will be no charges for bandwidth usage prior to June 1, 2018. Charges will be applicable to usage starting on June 1, and will appear on invoices starting in July.

According to their analysis of historical usage patterns, less than one percent of their customers will exceed their pooled allowance. For most users, however, the updated policy is a great benefit. Please check out the transfer limits for each Droplet on the pricing page.
