DigitalOcean: Managed Databases Now Support PostgreSQL 12

DigitalOcean published their monthly recap for July 2020 recently. They announced that Managed Databases now support PostgreSQL 12, that Memory-Optimized Droplets are now availabe in two more data center regions, and more.

  • Managed Databases now support PostgreSQL 12: They excitedly announced that DigitalOcean Managed Databases now support PostgreSQL 12! In addition to this, they released the capability for in-place major version upgrades that allow you to easily upgrade from one major version to another.
  • Memory-Optimized Droplets are now also available in the SFO3, TOR1, and BLR1 data center regions.
  • Load Balancer health checks now support the HTTPS protocol. Now you can easily configure load balancers to verify the health of your Droplets’ HTTPS endpoints.

In other news, they added ONLYOFFICE Editors to the marketplace. It’s an open source office suite that comprises web-based viewers and collaborative editors for text documents and spreadsheets as well as presentations. Another new arrival is Supabase Realtime which listens to changes in a PostgreSQL database and broadcasts them over WebSocket.
