Fontspring: App Font License Pricing Now Based On MAU

Fontspring just announced that they will be making adjustments to their app font licenses in terms of pricing. To cut a long story short: The prices for fonts that can be used in apps are now based on Monthly Active Users (MAU) only and no longer per app. However, one license covers unlimited apps, platforms, sales, and upgrades.

Back in 2017, Fontspring have added a new way of pricing application licenses: Monthly Active Users. The reasons for this step are quite obvious. MAU pricing scales fonts more effectively with the size of an application or project, making them affordable for developers of smaller apps and correspondingly expensive for larger teams. Just like pageviews for web font licenses, Monthly Active User might become the industry standard for app licenses.

In the years since the introduction of MAU pricing, a majority of font designers, foundries, and publishers have already switched to the new flexible, simple pricing model experiencing revenue growth through the sale of app licenses.

Due to this success, it is time to simplify their app font license offerings by discontinuing the outdated per app pricing on Fontspring.

In less than 2 weeks all non-custom app licenses on Fontspring will be scaled up to Monthly Active Users. For those who have already upgraded to the MAU app license, nothing will change. All those who are still using the old per app pricing will be upgraded to the new standard pricing. If you donโ€™t want to wait, you can log into your account and change that now.
