Adobe To Acquire Figma

After months in the making, Figma has entered into a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by Adobe for about $20 billion in cash and stock. They are confident that they will reach their goal of “eliminating the gap between imagination and reality” much faster by collaborating with Adobe.

Figma Acquisition

“With Adobe’s amazing innovation and expertise, especially in 3D, video, vector, imaging and fonts, we can further reimagine end-to-end product design in the browser, while building new tools and spaces to empower customers to design products faster and more easily.”

– Dylan Field, Co-founder and CEO of Figma

What impact and benefits will this acquisition have on users of Figma, the collaborative platform for UX and UI design prototyping?

  1. For Figma, this is a great opportunity to accelerate the growth and innovation of the design platform through access to Adobe’s technology, expertise and resources.
  2. It remains business as usual as Figma continues to operate autonomously and Dylan remains on board as CEO.

The “Friends of Figma” program will remain unchanged, as will pricing. In addition, Figma will continue to be free for education.
