devowl Releases Real Cookie Banner 4.0

About 1.5 years after the release of version 3.0, the devowl team has released Real Cookie Banner 4.0, the cookie banner and consent management plugin for WordPress. Among other things, they obtained an overview of the legal requirements of 12 EU countries and then integrated these into the plugin.

New Features

For version 4.0, the devowl team has implemented a wide range of new features and improvements. Let’s find out what’s new in Real Cookie Banner:

• Translation & Localization for 12 Main EU Countries:
  Previously, the focus was on Germany and Austria. However, version 4.0 also complies with the legal requirements of France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, e.g. regarding the accessibility of the cookie banner, footer links or age rating.When used on multilingual sites with WPML, Polylang, TranslatePress or Weglot, your visitors can now choose their language directly in the cookie banner.
• Mastered Audit by an External Law Firm:
  Real Cookie Banner is one of the most legally sound cookie banners for WordPress.
• Accessibility under the European Accessibility Act:
  The cookie banner consent dialogue and the content blocker are WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliant.
• Data Processing:
  For each service, you can now specify the countries in which your website visitors’ data is processed. This includes legal specifics such as the EU-US Privacy Framework.

• New Service Cloud:
  Independent of plugin updates, you now receive regular service template updates directly from the new Service Cloud.
• Faster Scanner:
  The scanner, which identifies most of the services on your website, is now up to 3.6 times faster than in version 3.0.
• Integration of New Swiss Data Protection Act (2023):
  In Real Cookie Banner, the Swiss Data Protection Act has been included as a new legal basis. All the necessary adjustments have been made.
• TCF support and Google (AdSense) certification
• Content blocker rules, including selector syntax features
• Consent documentation is now captured in a privacy compliant manner
• Performance optimization

Finally, the Real Cookie Banner team has added support for a wide range of 218 WordPress plugins, themes, web hosts, SaaS services and software libraries. This includes SEOPress, BuddyBoss, Divi, Mapbox, HivePress, Directorist, NGINX, The Events Calendar, and many more.
