You can use a static tag, a form field value or both. Whatever suits your business needs most. Furthermore you can assign multiple tags to subscribers simply by separating tags with commas.
The reason for using tags is quite simple. You really don’t want to send emails to subscribers who are not interested in them, but rather closely target your email campaigns with relevant emails. For instance, you don’t really want to offer an upgrade to customers who already have a paid account. These emails should only be sent to customers who are still using a free account. This approach also reduces the number of people who unsubscribe from your newsletter.
Now to the important part: How do you actually add tags to MailChimp subscribers from WordPress forms?
The Formidable Forms MailChimp add-on already allows you to transfer data from signup forms to MailChimp and create new contacts with their details with ease. With their latest feature you can now assign new subscribers to tags directly through your Formidable Forms.
You will find the new tags feature in your Formidable Form signup form at Form Actions > MailChimp > Tags Field. Pretty easy, right?
