James Kemp Acquires ReplyBox Comment System
According to WP Tavern, James Kemp has acquired ReplyBox, a commenting system that focuses on privacy in mid-April. James is the founder of Iconic and a co-founder of Orderable, a food & local ordering plugin for WooCommerce.
ReplyBox Acquisition
I’ve personally used ReplyBox before for my own site (Iconic) and already knew it was a great privacy-focused alternative to Disqus (which riddled my site with ads unknowingly!). Ash had already been looking for a buyer, and as we’ve worked together before he knew I’d be a good fit as the new owner.
– James Kemp, ReplyBox
ReplyBox was originally developed by Ashley Rich and Lewis Warren and sees itself as a Disqus alternative that is faster, more lightweight and focused on privacy. It also offers social logins and support for Markdown and webhooks. A review system, upvote/downvote features, emoji reactions, pinned comments and more design options will be added soon. Unlike dedicated comment plugins for WordPress like wpDiscuz and Thrive Comments, ReplyBox can be embedded in any page, including static HTML pages and – of course – WordPress sites via a connector plugin.
There is currently no free version. Prices start from as little as $5 per month (if billed annually) including 20,000 monthly pageviews.
