Akamai Acquires Linode

Earlier this month, Linode announced that they have entered into an agreement to be acquired by Akamai, creating the world’s most distributed compute platform from core to edge. The closing of the transaction is expected for the first quarter of 2022.

Linode Acquisition

The marriage of Linode’s compute and storage products with Akamai’s serverless, CDN, and security solutions, will give customers a broader range of services to build, modernize, and scale the next generation of applications.

Christopher Aker, CEO of Linode

This acquisition is not about Linode shifting away from small businesses and targeting enterprises instead. Rather the opposite: Akamai and Linode can help more developers build more applications of all shapes and sizes.

Check out the benefits:

  • A better solution for developers & businesses
  • A better cloud infrastructure and platform service
  • The most distributed cloud to edge compute platform in the world

For the foreseeable future, the Linode team will continue to operate just as they have always done. Business as usual!
