Descript have just announced some exciting news for their all-in-one audio/video editing tool. Overdub is now available for all accounts and voice cloning has become much easier.
Overdub lets you create new audio with a synthesised version of your own voice or one of the stock voices. Listeners will usually find it difficult to tell the difference between your real voice and the overdubbed one. This allows you to create audio content without recording, fill a gap in your script or effortlessly add that brilliant line you thought of after recording.
With the new version, a trial version of Overdub has been made available for all Descript accounts. Free and Creator accounts can create Overdub voices, but with limited vocabularies of up to 1,000 common words. Pro accounts still have unlimited Overdub vocabularies.
In addition, they’ve slowly begun rolling out a new feature that allows you to create your Overdub Voice just by uploading or clipping in existing audio of your voice. Finally, they have also removed the limits on Overdub licenses. This means that you can now create as many different versions of your Overdub Voice as you like.
More Features & Improvements
- Webcam Resizing (Mac)
Mac users are now able to change the size of the webcam bubble and select whether it is square or circular in the Screen Recorder.
- Video Analytics & Email Notifications
Video creators will now receive an email notification when someone views the video for the first time. They can now also view the number of views on their created video pages. Otherwise, these views are displayed as anonymous users.
Finally, you can now change the offline location storage where Descript stores files on your computer. The 7-day free trial for Pro accounts is no longer available.
