DigitalOcean just introduced the latest generation of Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors (code name Ice Lake) to their cloud computing platform. For starters, they are available in the SFO3 data center.

3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors
Intel’s 3rd generation Xeon Scalable processors offer significant performance improvements of up to 46% over their predecessors, providing their customers with outstanding computing power.
They are currently available for the following Droplet types in the SFO3 data center:
- CPU-Optimized Droplets
- Memory-Optimized Droplets
- Premium Intel Droplets
They will be rolled out to other droplet types, data centers, and regions in the course of time. The 3rd gen processors are also supported for DigitalOcean Kubernetes and Managed Databases. Good news: Despite more speed, the price remains the same.
