Top Regional Image Trends

Below you will find some of iStock’s top regions including image trends and insights so you can learn about what your audience or target demographic may engage with more. This might help you identify and find just the perfect royalty-free stock photos, vector illustrations, and videos for your own or client project.

UK

The UK is multicultural and diverse – so are it’s consumers. Top trends recently are showing images that revolve around landscapes and sports. These are popular, but you should keep in mind weather trends – don’t always feature blue skies! It’s best to avoid images such as desert landscapes or American football, as these are things that are not vastly relatable to people residing in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland.

EMEA

Compiled of Europe, Middle East, and Africa, the EMEA region is vast and widely different. You can afford to be broad or very specific in the images you choose for these territories. Overall, city landscapes, Southern European beach scenes, local cuisine (avoid the cliché’s) and sports such as tennis, football, swimming and skiing all resonate well with these consumers. Do your best to avoid desert-type landscapes, American type sports.

ANZ

Australia and New Zealand, they may be distant from most countries around the globe, but their audience can be engaged through the right use of imagery. Focus your efforts on avoiding the obvious tourist things like kangaroos, Uluru and Sydney Harbour. Instead feature city life, such as Melbourne’s trams or Australian-rules football, barbecues, beaches and multiracial people.
