Restart PHP
  • Automatic MySQL Database Optimizations
Automatic fine-tuning and optimization of your MySQL database settings based on the needs of your WordPress site once per week to ensure a better MariaDB performance. A sysadmin will be notified when their automated process detects something wrong that cannot be fixed by itself.
  • Self-Healing PHP
Kinsta already has a one-click restart PHP tool in the MyKinta dashboard. However, this is still a manual process and often you just didn’t notice that PHP failed. As of now, the brand new self-healing PHP feature will try to auto-restart PHP. If this fails, their system automatically logs the issue for a sysadmin to check out.
  • Google Cloud Platform Firewall
Previously, Kinsta used a third-party firewall solution. From now on, all WordPress sites are now secured behind the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) firewall. The GCP firewall is also integrated with their load balancer to ensure that third-party web application firewalls (WAF) such as Sucuri and Cloudflare as well as CDN tools like Cloudflare will still work.

In other news, Kinsta now supports Wordfence and charts on the MyKinsta dashboard come with a slick new look. After adding more disk space to Starter, Pro, and Business 1 plans back in 2018, Kinsta added more SSD storage on all of their standard plans.

At the end of October they rolled out Google Cloud’s computer-optimized (C2) VMs to all customers. This results in performance boosts from 30% all the way up to 200%!
