Welcome to the 57th issue of The Pier. Remember the drama about Cwicly closing its doors shortly after the launch of the new Tailwind CSS integration (see The Pier #33 & #38)? Well, after updating their website and linking to the free version, there’s hope that Cwicly will return! Stay tuned!

🤙 New: GP Font Library

GeneratePress has released a brand new feature called the Font Library that allows you to download and serve Google Fonts locally from your WordPress sites. No more performance or privacy concerns with pinging Google Fonts every time your site loads. You can even upload your own custom fonts and set advanced configuration options.

It is currently in alpha and available for download from your GeneratePress account.

WordPress

In an effort to provide unified solutions, The Events Calendar includes the Virtual Events and Event Automator add-ons in Events Calendar Pro. Similarly, the new Community add-on will combine the features of Community Events and Community Tickets.

Following the acquisition of ImageSEO by WPChill in October 2023 (see The Pier #20), WP Modula is now officially integrated with the Image SEO Optimizer plugin for WordPress.

Ollie Pro has been on the market for two weeks now and is a huge library of beautifully designed patterns, page layouts, templates and styles (see The Pier #55). Based on user feedback, they have introduced a new Agency pricing plan for $249 per year for up to 500 sites. In addition, all features are now available on all Pro plans.

GP Google Sheets is leaving Gravity Perks and will be added to the upcoming
new Gravity Connect suite, which focuses specifically on integrating Gravity Forms with top services such as OpenAl, Notion and Google Sheets.

David from the Core Framework announces the release of the popular CoreKit for Bricks, which was originally only available for Oxygen.

AIOSEO 4.6.6 adds support for Thrive Architect and SiteOrigin page builders.

Sugar Calendar 3.0 comes with a fresh, modern look and introduces a new admin area, easy event management and ticketing, as well as two new blocks to display events.

WP Engine acquires NitroPack, an all-in-one SaaS solution for improving site speed and performance metrics, including Google’s Core Web Vitals.

Ecommerce

Booking & Appointment Plugin for WooCommerce 6.4.0 now allows store admins to add comments when creating manual bookings. Edit Booking page now includes an option to manually send reminder emails for specific bookings.

Amelia 7.7 adds support for Square and WP Fusion, as well as the option for users to enable onsite and WooCommerce Payments.

Lightfunnels now allows you to import reviews directly from Aliexpress, Amazon, Etsy & CJ Dropshipping into the sales funnel platform.

Managed Cloud Hosting

Cloudways introduces a new AWS Micro Tier plan: The new entry-level tier for AWS servers on Cloudways Flexible is supported by T3 instances with 2 vCPUs and 1 GB of RAM. In addition, you can now set up invoice reminders in the Client Billing tool.

Project Management

Nifty is now officially SOC 2 (Service Organization Control 2) compliant.

Reputation Management

EmbedMyReviews now allows you to sync reviews from G2 and WebMD. The Stripe integration now supports creating Stripe payment links for annual plans as well as monthly plans. Annual plans are also displayed on the marketing page (if available).
