Streamline: Guidance – A New, Free Wayfinding Icon Set

Whether we need new icons or illustrations for our own or client projects, Streamline is our first port of call. Actually, it’s our only one at the moment. Now there is another reason. They have just released Guidance, a brand-new free wayfinding icon set.

Guidance is a free, open-source signage icon set with 360 vector icons that blends brutalist architecture with the fluid shapes of nature.

Designed for the offline world, these icons are ideal for public spaces, transport hubs, large venues, office buildings and commercial complexes. They work across borders and languages.

Guidance is built on a 24×24px grid with a default 1px stroke. The aim was to create a sophisticated and legible collection by combining convex and concave lines.

Streamline’s intention was to explore the expressive possibilities of these icons while ensuring their legibility and usability for a wayfinding system. They’ve done a great job, haven’t they?

Initially, Guidance was intended to be a premium icon set. Although the design process took Streamline 200 hours, they have made the icon set free and open source.
