SureMembers – A New WordPress Content Restriction Plugin Is In Town

Adam Preiser and his team are currently in the process of turning the WordPress community upside down with an extremely exciting plugin suite.

For many years, there were virtually no real alternatives to WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads for WordPress ecommerce. But with the recent launch of SureCart, that has changed. With the upcoming launch of SureMembers, they are now also attacking the dominance of long-established membership plugins for WordPress such as Restrict Content Pro, MemberPress and Wishlist Member.

Time for a Change?

We actually use Restrict Content Pro on many WordPress sites and were not actively looking for a replacement. However, recently we have had some concerns about its future development. Don’t get me wrong, RCP works great as stated on the label and is very well integrated with many other plugins.

Unfortunately, we feel the development cycle is really slow and the UI/UX is outdated. Since the acquisition by iThemes in September 2020, not much has happened except for some minor updates and a very successful redesign of the website. In August 2021, for example, we sent a list of 13 feature requests and suggestions for improvement to iThemes, none of which have unfortunately been implemented yet.

Hopefully they will speed up development as it is actually a great plugin.

SureMembers

But enough talk about other plugins. We are currently testing the SureMembers beta and are putting the new lightweight content restriction / membership plugin for WordPress through its paces. Stay tuned as we will update this post as we speak. In the meantime you can watch Adam’s Quickstart Guide video above.

Features

SureMembers has all the features you would expect from a content restriction plugin, including content restriction for, pages, posts, custom post types, taxonomies, access groups aka membership levels, access group priorities, drip content, settings for unauthorized access, and block-level control for Gutenberg.

Early Bird Pricing + LTD

Next Tuesday Starting September 15, SureCart will soon be doing a soft launch for SureMembers, offering a very limited lifetime deal. Probably for one week only!

Pricing is not 100% set yet, but will be in the $199 to $499 price range for 10 to 100 websites.

Contrary to the original announcement, the official launch of SureMembers has been delayed a bit and is now scheduled for October 4 11, according to Adam. The reason could not be better! Before the launch they really want to release a big update with as many of the following features as possible: New login modal, LearnDash & WooCommerce integrations, custom user roles, bulk updating users, and an Order Bumps feature for SureCart Pro.

As noted in the comments, there was also a delay due to WordCamp US.

SureTriggers & SureCourses

However, that’s not all. SureTriggers is yet another new plugin from the SureCart developers that will compete directly with other automation plugins such as AutomatorWP, Thrive Automator and Uncanny Automator. We’ve already been able to test the beta and – as with SureCart and SureMembers – we’re absolutely thrilled because of the fantastic simple UI/UX. More on this shortly. Stay tuned!

Lastly, rumour has it that you can also expect a new LMS plugin called SureCourses later this year. These are really exciting times, aren’t they?
