Awesome Motive Acquires EDD, AffiliateWP, WP Simple Pay & Sugar Calendar

There has been quite a bit of consolidation in the WordPress ecosystem lately. Just yesterday we published a post about the acquisition of LearnDash by Liquid Web. Today comes the next bang! Pippin Williamson from Sandhills Development has just announced the acquisition of all his plugins by Awesome Motive from Syed Balkhi.

Easy Digital Downloads along with all other Sandhills Development plugins including AffiliateWP, WP Simple Pay and Sugar Calendar are joining the Awesome Motive Family of Brands. Restrict Content Pro was acquired by Liquid Web back in 2020.

Just in the unlikely event that you don’t know Awesome Motive. It’s a company started by Syed Balkhi, and they’re behind some of the most popular WordPress plugins including WPForms, OptinMonster, MonsterInsights, RafflePress, SeedProd, All In One SEO, and many more. For example, they also acquired SearchWP a couple of months ago.

As Awesome Motive are one of the biggest users of Sandhills products, it made perfect sense to join forces. What does this mean for their plugins? Well, it’s business as usual without any major changes for now. The entire Sandhills team will be joining Awesome Motive. Pippin, however, will retire from WordPress to focus on his family and Sandhills Brewing. Good luck for the future!
