The new bunny.net WordPress plugin has been designed with one simple goal in mind – to make CDN configuration easier than ever before, with an easy-to-use 3-step CDN configuration wizard. No coding required.

New Bunny Offloader

One of the most requested features is finally here: The Bunny Offloader. As the name suggests, you can now offload all your static WordPress and media files to bunny.net’s ultra-fast, SSD-powered, globally replicated storage with up to 15 regions – just 30ms away from the CDN.

Performance-killing uncached static files from overloaded shared hosting providers are now a thing of the past.

Whenever Bunny CDN requests an uncached file, it will automatically fetch it from the closest storage region, resulting in up to 90% faster load times and freeing up disk space on your hosting account.

Update: As of 31 March, Ahoi.dev is using Bunny DNS with the CDN acceleration feature enabled. As the icing on the cake, all media files are now offloaded to our main storage region in Europe (Falkenstein) on the Edge Tier (SSD) and replicated to 6 regions including London, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Sydney and Singapore. From there, they are delivered from the closest region to the CDN PoP, increasing data reliability and performance for uncached requests in each region.

As well as improving performance, offloading media also frees up a lot of space on our Hetzner server. Just to give you an idea. The full site backup is about 29GB, of which the uploads folder is 26GB.

During the setup we had two issues with the DNS and the actual Offloader settings. However, the bunny support was spot on and solved both issues in no time – on a weekend and a public holiday. Thanks a lot!

The new plugin for WordPress has also integrated Bunny Fonts for GDPR compliance. It automatically replaces all Google-hosted fonts with a privacy-compliant alternative hosted by bunny.net.

What’s More?

Finally, bunny.net has created a new dashboard that gives you useful performance metrics without having to leave your WordPress site. You can check your account balance, last month’s usage, content delivery bandwidth, cache hit ratios, statistics charts and more.
