Descript: New AI Regenerate Audio Tool & Eye Contact Video Effect

The Descript team has just announced the July update for their audio/video editing tool, introducing the new AI-powered Regenerate audio tool, a new Eye Contact video effect, and more.

Regenerate (beta)

Descript has added some incredibly useful AI features, including Regenerate, a ground-breaking audio tool. Mismatched cuts, dull dialogue, annoying background noise and other audio flaws are finally a thing of the past. With a single click, Regenerate breathes life into your recordings by flawlessly replicating any voice and its ambiance.

Eye Contact (beta)

The second new AI feature is a video effect called Eye Contact, which keeps your eyes glued to the camera no matter where you look – at your script, the screen or your slides. You will find this feature under Effects > Eye Contact in your video layer’s properties panel. Keep in mind that it’s still in beta and will take longer to process, especially on larger or higher quality files because it’s basically rendering a whole new video.

Replace Selection

The new Replace Selection tool lets you effortlessly replace any part of your recording such as a voiceover, an AI voice or a previous take with a new recording, while keeping all existing assets in sync with the script. Simply highlight the part you want to replace, hit record and voila: the new recording pops in.

What’s More?

Descript are now enforcing the limits they announced last year. Free accounts can use Studio Sound on files up to 10 minutes long, and Creator accounts up to 60 minutes. Note that Pro and Enterprise accounts have no limits.
