Descript Rolls Out Faster, Better Studio Sound

Descript just announced a faster, improved Studio Sound, Windows webcams, and progressive video uploads for their audio/video editing tool.

Improved Studio Sound

Descript has launched a new version of Studio Sound that sounds better while taking less time to process your recordings. You will notice that the new Studio Sound recordings have fewer artefacts and the identity of the speaker is better preserved. If you want to re-apply Studio Sound to an existing recording, replace the file in your project with the same original file and then apply Studio Sound to it.

In August 2022, Descript has released an upgrade to Studio Sound that better restores all frequencies when regenerating speaker voices. Voices now sound warmer, clearer, and more life-like after you apply Studio Sound. The latest version also works better on laughter. The next version will even work better on crosstalk and improve all voices instead of just one.

Progressive Video Uploads, Apple Silicon & More

Descript now uploads your video recordings while you are still recording on macOS so that they are available on the share page immediately after recording.

In addition, Descript now finally allows you to make webcam-only recordings on Windows. Note that it’s still in early access.

PS: In January 2022, Descript added native editing support for Apple Silicon Macs. Lastly, they are also providing early access to automatically assign multicam. When using remote recording tools or creating sequences with multiple video tracks in Descript, you can now automatically edit your video to always show the active speaker on screen. Once you add your multi-track videos to a sequence, head over to the wrench icon in the script toolbar and select “Automatically assign multicam.”
