Block Storage is Now Live at DigitalOcean
Yesterday DigitalOcean excitedly announced a highly anticipated feature: SSD-based Block Storage! Volumes are units of highly available block storage that you can attach to your Droplet.
You can then use them to store assets, backups, and databases separate from your Droplet. As volumes are expandable and flexible, they can be moved between Droplets. Also you can increase their size according to your business needs – from 1GB to 16TB.

Volumes can either be added via the new Volumes tab or right from a Droplet’s page. Block storage pricing is based on capacity. DigitalOcean are charging a flat fee of just $0.10/GB per month.
