The Events Calendar team just released the Pro 6.0 version which is currently in beta. This release focuses on major improvements to recurring events, including a new post type called “Series”. They also introduced a new lightning-fast backend process for creating events.
The Events Calendar Pro 6.0
The new Series post type introduces a powerful, new way to group, organize, and present your events on your WordPress site. A series is fully customisable and can hold any single or recurring events, e.g. a weekly recurring event called Painting Class. It also has its own pages on the front that show the description of the series and the listing of series events with a beautiful standard calendar view.
In addition, occurrences of recurring events can be edited with unique content such as titles, images, and venues, while still remaining connected through their associated Series.
Finally, recurring events will be based on the iCalendar standard. Each can have one pattern-based recurrence rule (such as repeats weekly on Saturdays) and one or zero pattern-based exclusion rule.
