Since version 2.0, the devowl team has added new features to the Real Cookie Banner plugin.
Service Scanner
The most exciting is definitely the Service Scanner, with which you can find services on your website that require consent. This saves you the manual search for them. The scanner searches every page of your WordPress site, all installed plugins and other technical parameters. Additionally, it recommends ready-to-use service templates that will allow you to set up your cookie banner quickly. This way you won’t forget or miss any consent-requiring services anymore.
However, you should still have a final check, as the plugin obviously cannot give a 100% guarantee that it will find all cookies on your website.
Revamped Content Blocker
In addition, they have added Hero- and Wrapped Content Blockers, which for example block YouTube videos, Google Maps, audio players, and social media feeds until consent is given. However, they do not appear out of place, but almost look like they are embedded.
In addition, content blockers can now also work on the WordPress admin login page and block single sign-in solutions from Google, Facebook and others, for example, until consent is given.
New Service & Content Blocker Templates
As icing on the cake, they have added 40 new service templates and over 50 content blocker templates. This brings the total number of service templates to more than 150 and content blocker templates to more than 120. In addition, Real Cookie Banner is compatible with 137 WordPress plugins and themes, page builders, SaaS applications and custom WordPress web hosting environments.
Better Mobile Optimization & More
devowl also optimized the plugin to further improve the mobile user experience and to achieve better accessibility and PageSpeed. Translations of Real Cookie Banner are now available not only in “German” (Du, informal) but also in “German (Sie, formal)”.
In addition to shortcodes, you can now also easily integrate legal links into native WordPress menus. Lastly, they have also made adjustments to legal requirements for fairer consent management, which you can adopt with a few clicks.
