FluentCart Introduces EU-Ready Tax Engine

FluentCart has just added a new EU-ready tax engine to its WordPress e-commerce plugin. Over the last two months, they have been working closely with industry experts to completely overhaul the way FluentCart handles tax. The new engine is integrated into the core and no add-on or third-party tax service is required.

New Features

Let’s take a look at what’s new in FluentCart 1.4.0:

• Full EU B2B Reverse Charge: Selling to VAT-registered businesses across EU borders now works from start to finish. The customer enters their VAT ID, the tax is reversed correctly — and this is displayed correctly on the checkout page, in emails, in PDFs and on receipts. It even handles stores that advertise tax-inclusive prices.
• Per-Item Tax Breakdown: Every line item clearly shows how it was taxed. This makes things clear for both you and the customer.
• Mixed Cart Handling: Products with different tax statuses (tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive) in the same cart now total and display correctly.
• Global Built-In Tax Rates: All pre-loaded: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. New stores receive guided support for setting up taxes during onboarding, ensuring compliance from day one.
• VAT Collection: Choose precisely which EU countries you want to collect VAT in, register online and receive a clear notification when a VAT ID is missing, rather than finding out later. You also get city/postcode-level overrides and per-variation tax control.

In other news, FluentCart now offers Store Digest emails. You can opt in to receive a daily, weekly or monthly summary of your store’s key metrics straight to your inbox. Finally, discounts are now shown per item with strikethrough pricing, so customers can see exactly how much each item has been discounted by.
