New: Has One Relationship

In WordPress projects, the Meta Box team has consistently observed relationships such as product > brand, employee > department, or order > customer. Each item on one side connects to exactly one partner, but this is rarely enforced by the tools.

This is why they have just released the new ‘Has One Relationship’ feature in MB Relationships.

You can enable it on either side of a relationship, after which the custom fields plugin will handle enforcement automatically:

  • Single-select field instead of a cloneable list,
  • Already-connected items excluded from the dropdown,
  • Rules applied on save and through the programmatic API,
  • Supports one-to-many, many-to-one and one-to-one patterns.

Simply update to the latest version of Meta Box Lite or Meta Box AIO to start using this feature!
