Fontsmith is a 23 year old premiere boutique type foundry based in London. It was founded in 1997 by Jason Smith in 1997 after completing an internship at Monotype at the age of 18, where he studied with the renowned type designers Robin Nicholas and Pat Saunders. The foundry is known for creating typefaces full of character. There are classics like FS Albert®, FS Joey® and FS Lola®, accessible fonts like FS Me® and Millbank®, the storytelling serifs FS Kim, FS Neruda and FS Ostro, and quirky duo FS Split Sans and Serif.

This is a full circle story. My earliest type design experience at Monotype inspired me to follow my passion and drove me to blaze my own trail in design. To come back to where it all started is both nostalgic and exhilarating. Monotype and Fontsmith have joined creative forces to create an even more powerful, forward-thinking Monotype Studio. Our combined expertise will help us better serve the creative industry in ways that we’ve never done before. – Jason Smith

With a focus on the craft, design and technology of typography, Fontsmith adds a collection of innovative and award-winning typefaces to the Monotype library.
